Antisana Reserve & Indian Market with Hacienda Hato Verde

Located within a private hacienda estate, the Antisana Volcano (19,985 ft / 5,753m above sea level) - this ecological reserve is one of the most important sanctuaries of the Paramo. It offers Grass Land vegetation for a number of endangered species such as the Andean condor, spectacle bear, puma, Paramo wolf, Andean hill star hummingbird, beautiful gentians, and polylephis trees amongst others. Enjoy the impressive environment of the highlands wilderness, visited only by special permit.

Hato Verde is part of a rich tradition whose house had been remodeled by the current owners in strict keeping with original materials and techniques. Now we can appreciate the impeccable masonry work on the walls, developing the colonial-cum-rustic style of the region. This generates a warm and inviting atmosphere with all the comforts and necessities of a boutique hotel.

One and a half hours from the Ecuadorian Capital of Quito stands the beautiful and little known farmhouse of San Agustin de Callo. Built on the site of an important Inca Palace this working farm offers to day's discerning traveller an unrivalled glimpse into Ecuador's rich and colourful past.

Since the 15th century San Agustin de Callo has served as Inca fortress, Augustinian convent and temporary home for the French Geodesic Mission - whose scientific results helped to determine the shape of the planet. The Hacienda incorporates three distinct architectural styles, Inca, Colonial and Republican, the latter of which was added toward the turn of the 20th century.

In addition to the visit of Antisana volcano we will explore any of the Indian markets of the region depending on the day(please see below) and come back to Quito after lunch in one of the haciendas of the region, or ride on the foot hills of the Cotopaxi Volcano with fantastic landscapes (at extra cost)

Baños and Cloud Forest with Hacienda Manteles

Through the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes' to Baños which lies in a verdant sub-tropical valley, visit the Indian weavers of Salasaca, the San Martin Canyon and a tour of Baños, famous for its miraculous Virgin and delicious homemade toffee, then visits to local balsa wood and vegetable ivory sculptors. Overnight stay at Hacienda Manteles, charming hacienda with spectacular views of the surrounding valleys. Next morning visit the cloud forest of Río Verde. After lunch return to Quito.
